All credits to birdy974 for originally uploading the clips of Ultravox playing Reading in 1978!
I discovered John Foxx era Ultravox through those two videos and decided to clean them up slightly (both the picture and the audio) thanks to TMPGEnc and Adobe Audition!

Hope they're as good as the originals!!! Enjoy :)

This is obviously not true HD quality, I merely resized them to make full use of YouTube's HD capabilities...

  • great version! 1978.... jeez. that was brand new music at the time

  • @gillesnewwave Before new romantic came and became a cliché of itself... "Systems Of Romance" was an outstanding album...

  • Sounded good from the hospital tent

  • @westam42 Sounds like something bad happened here... ;)

  • had this incarnation of ultravox stayed together they really could've ended up among one of the top 10 greatest bands ever. i don't even consider the midge ure ultravox to be the same band. they just coincidentally share the same name. john foxx is one in 10 million

  • Bellissimi e indimenticabili

  • Arh, the memories of my teen youth... time passes, but the memories never fade.

Great to see this of Ultravox! live in '78 as I missed them at Erics.

John is still great now and I'm proud to say "I shook the hand of John Foxx".

    "Chorley Rock Wroks" heh Dennis?

    I Can't Stay Long.....

    Peace (-:

    PB

  • I lost interest in Ultravox when Midge Ure joined.

  • Great to see this. I was at that festival, Ultravox were one of my favourite bands.

  • Did Midge Ure click on dislike? Tit

  • Thanks for posting this! Interesting--they had a completely 'modern' sound but looked a bit like your typical 70s prog-rock band. I'm sure John would like to forget that haircut! My old classmate, a guy named Craig, introduced me to Ultravox circa 1978. He was a DJ at Cleveland State University.

  • I didn't know Billy also played kazoo.
