Model Number is 16SD4. I originally saw one of these fans when I serviced one for a local lady, I liked the design.

This fan was made in the mid 1950's and features plastic (maybe Micarta) blades, 3 speeds controlled via a rotary switch and resistor based speed coil very 50's era styling and nice slow oscillation sweep. These fans are very good runners that are easy to service.

  • They were cleaning out a laboratory at work and I saved it from being tossed in the garbage. I would like to replace the wiring as I think it's all original and cracked. Is there anything I should look for on this resistor coil?? It doesn't look like it's a replaceable part!

  • @PUboiler29 - You can use resistors to replace the original if it breaks, I know a guy who has done this. I'll get the info and post it on the DT Forums (and as a message to you).

  • dburrigh,

Nice video. My wife is a civil service employee in the NY courts. They were cleaning out a room and she was able to take home a fan or it would have been thrown out. The fan happen to be a 16SD4. It is the same color as yours and in similar condition. I will have to clean it up and oil it. We are thrilled to have aquired one of these. Thanks for the video.

  • @cmakely60 - Chris, good on you for saving that fan! These make really nice runners.

  • A nice fan. Almost simalar to my 12-LA. Unfortunately, it doesn't work anymore (Headwire is frayed). However, this one is better than today's crap.

  • Hey, I saw a fan very similar to that at an antique store except it was dirty and the back cover dented in and someone put a heater cord on it. This fan had the ring type badge with the lettering around it. Even in its present condition and price I may go get it for $45, as its just dirty but has good paint so it'll clean up.

  • i hav the same fan every thing is the same as that 1

  • Great fan.Man that thing is quiet.I have a Power Aire like that. It's the daily runner it the frontroom.I also have the Super Power Aire.Very deep pitch blades.I think it was used for industry.

  • mine picks up speed alot faster and i am sure its the same motor. i think mine is about a 1955ish model. i know its got 7/16" bolts holding the motor together which is way overkill! i would guess that the grease in the oscillator could be your culprit making it lag to get up to speed.

  • i have a later version of the same fan. it is a neat fan. one of my friends gave it to me
