Sure App Engine is a great platform for building online games, but have you considered that it's also a great platform for building game development tools? As social gaming platforms become more capable, developers are faced with increasingly complex art and design data. This session will discuss using App Engine, GWT, and WebGL to build tools that support game development and asset management.

  • Is there a Open Source Community which ties to develope such tools? Is her code now open source? Can't find anything :(

  • It is a nice show but Google should stop denigrating the technologies used by its competitors. There are other solutions to make 3D games in a browser, not only Flash Molehill and WebGL. Google has not invented the first API allowing to access to OpenGL in a browser and its employee who implemented the array buffers in WebGL is a former Sun Microsystems employee who contributed to JOGL for years. JOGL 2.0 supports both desktop and embedded (Android & Linux ARM) environments. Goodbye WebGL :)

  • @MakubexIsVik Unity does not work on Linux and its support of Android is very "young". Therefore, it is not cross-platform, it is a good reason not to mention it as a cross-platform solution to make 3D games in a browser.

  • I can't download the slide for this presentation, the link not found :(

  • great video!

  • @MakubexIsVik She wouldn't. They're in competition for a certain segment of the game development market -- cross platform, light-to-middle weight games.

  • Really good video, thanks!
