OK It's a little contrived, a bit self indulgent and needs an extra verse rather than a repeat. In mitigation though, I felt the need to try to do something slower and self indulgent and run the risk of being contrived. I can come up with an extra verse some other time! Hey ....I'm still learning!

I don't have a particular genre/style of song that I stick to - it just appears when I do my own stuff.

My prefered playing style is consistent though, which is a percussive feel to my uke playing. This was a conscious attempt at that style. Discovering that the depth of harmonies from a uke is bigger than first meets the eye (or should that be ear?)

Go buy a uke and astonish yourself folks.

The Fool Behind That Door

(Dm) I never thought I'd see another day when the (C) sun would rise
(Am) After you walked out and left me behind that (Dm) door
(Dm) Never thought I'd find a mirror to look me (C) in the eyes
(Am) After I realised what I'd gone and (Dm) done

(Dm) Standing (C) alone behind that (Dm) door
(Dm) By (C) myself behind that (Dm) door (Dm)

(Dm) No matter how much I loved you there was (C) still a fool in me
(Am) A stupid me I couldn't lock behind that (Dm) door
(Dm) Even though you loved me you couldn't (C) face that fool each day
(Am) You knew he'd only make you waste away (Dm) inside.

(C) So how come the fool (G) never learns any rules
(D) Wisdom says hello but passes (F) by
(C) So how come the fool (G) always has to speak
(D) Even when he knows he's shut (F) behind that (C) door

  • Another excellent song! How many dogs are on your sofa? :-) X

  • @ruth7784 Thanks for watching Roofy. 2 dogs on the sofa - one big bad boxer with a brain the size of a walnut and one permanently hungry ( eyes that say "they don't feed me - ever") terrier with the brain the size of a small planet. If she had opposable thumbs she would rule the Earth

  • Great Song, Stu! A good story (with wich we all can identify) and really cool tune. Love it!
