The Katoomba Cricket Club, established in 2003, went six long years without any silverware.

That all changed in 2008/09 when both the 3rd Grade Rebels and the debutants, the 4th Grade Warrigals, won their respective competitions.

The Warrigals did it in dramatic style against the odds by winning their last three 'sudden death' games:

*The last game of the regular season, where the Warrigals were tied with Hazelbrook on points. KCC lost the first innings and looked gone but fought back to win outright and qualify for the Semis.

*The Semi-Final vs Wentworth Falls, with only 9 players, they batted and bowled with spirit, while enjoying tremendous support from the outer, eventually stunning their more fancied rivals by 43 runs.

*The climactic Grand Final showdown with the minor premiers and hot favourites, the Faulconbridge Blues. This was a tense yet ultimately comfortable six wicket victory which provided a fitting end to a memorable season.

The Grand Final was played at Gloria Park, Hazelbrook on March 15/16 2009.

The Warrigals: Kerry Cooke (c), Chris Cornell, Pat Cooke, Sean Cooke, Brendan Cooke, Dave Marshall, Glen McVey, Blair Kavanagh, Gavin Lane, Dave Peters, Russell Ward, Dan Ward and Evan Deacon.

The unsung heroes behind the scenes and support from the sideline came from: Kate Cooke, Stacey Ward, Cathy Maddock, Jackie Cooke, Mick Cooke, Charmaine and many others.

Substitute fielding (when we were short) was much appreciated and came from: Paul Cooper, Andy Mac, Nick Samios and Val Di Battista (who took the winnng catch to qualify us for the Finals).
