Anytime a series makes it to syndication, there are going to be bits cut out of each episode. The main reason is because as tv shows that were an hour long in the 80's (actual show time ran around 48 mins, leaving 12 mins for comercials) now have to compete in a market that needs more comerical time. So now that 48 minute show is down to 40 minutes now and they have to cut scenes to allow for that. Half hour shows now have a run time of 18 mins, allowing more time for comercials.

I like the microlock better. In my opinion, it makes more sense to show the car engaging the lock rather than showing the watch, which does nothing.

Im guesing it was product placement. Those things used to sell for about £15 in argos, over here in the UK. But maybee the comlink wasnt sold in the USA at the time.?
