@southeastswell, "Come Hell or High Water" evidently played about an hour north of me, but it doesn't seem anyone called attention to it.

It seems that Mr. Cunningham took up lifeguarding because his dad was dying, and he decided to quit college (and varsity water polo) at UCSB to be close to his family. Water Polo meant that he was a top swimmer, which got him the job (Bruce Jenkins, "North Shore Chronicles: Big-Wave Surfing in Hawaii"). Jenkins learned bodysurfing from Cunningham. Both participated in the Bodysurf San Franciso event in November 2012; Jenkins wrote an article on it for the San Franciso Chronicle.

@BlueRusso This is fast becoming the "Biography of the Young Mark Cunningham" page! Thanks for posting. Have you seen the new Come Hell or High Water DVD? Amazing footage of Cunningham and Mike Stewart at Teahupoo.

Yuri Farrant indeed did "Crystal Eyes" perhaps 1981 or 82, evidently including Mark Cunningham, who would have been 24 years old in 1981.

is this from endless summer?

@Mortalmuffin No, I think it's from a movie called Crystal Eyes, don't take my word for it though I could be wrong.
