  • How far off of the coast of SD is this? Mako sharks are pretty damn aggressive.

  • @generalsaam

The sharks are sometimes concentrated very close to the San Diego shoreline and in fact you can see kiddies swimming on the beach at times when fishing for them. Look there is nothing to worry about. Most of the sharks that people are swimming and surfing with every day are fish and ray eaters. There is vast amounts of fish life off SD coastline. With the very deep water sharply meeting the shallows in this area you have to expect so. The makos in this area are generally small.

  • @aussieflyfish hey im getting a GoPro...does it need a skeleton to go under water !?

  • @beyonceboy100

No the skeleton case has cutouts to allow sound and cooling. It would soak your camera.

  • i dont know how people have the balls to do this

  • @aussieflyfish

Capt Dave has released over 4000 sharks with 2 makos over 1000 lb each with this method. If you dive with sharks I'm thinking your in a cage. Stop being a do-gooder and wannabe. I've been on the ocean all my life and probably seen more big fish than you have had hot dinners.

We don't actually chum like those blokes who have watched JAWS one to many times. Mako's are predominately fish eaters and we lay a scent trail. Blues , Hammerheads, Makos and the occasional GW find the trail and the boat. The fish take flies with gusto and fight well often taking to air in spectacular leaps. We use appropriate fly tackle for the job and although we beef up our terminal gear to ensure quick release we sometimes fish IGFA regulations.

Just as I thought you never watched the video. Yes we have lots of footage of that and there has been a device designed to remove the DE-BARBED hooks. You can see it in use at the end of the video. And as they are not declared endangered there is still a commercial fishery and recreational bag limit on these fish. We are totally against anything but catch and release on these fish. Your intentions are good but you are terribly misinformed
