  • What's the point of posting a video if you're gonna play music over the tutorial?

  • The weight shifting they are demonstrating seems very similar if not identical to traditional footwork in many fighting styles around the world nothing new. How did everyone get on the subject of being a technical fighter or just a brawler?? It's the fighter and his experience that matters; some are meant to be fighters, but anyone can become one in the right circumstances. Think of conscription soldiers over the span of history.

I usually turn my punches and get the snap at a diagonal position while also drop stepping, this generates a large amount of power.

  • @ruebuscm

I agree when hitting a heavybag as long as you keep the punch at clavicle height or below, but turning one's fist over does make a big difference when hitting a head, also to make sure your hooks don't cause injury keep the fist turned at a diagonal angle.

Take care and thanks for the comment.

  • @BareFisted core during a straight punch. Turning the hand horizontally only works for punches at long range, but adds a lot of snap to one's punch, and really helps put the rotation of the whole body into the punch. It creates more power, in my opinion, and poses very little chance of injury.

  • @BareFisted I don't think turning one's fist over actually does make a lot of difference as far as the likelihood of injury is concerned... I can throw straight punches at my heavy bag without gloves or wraps all day and be fine. I'm much more likely to hurt my wrist throwing hooks, during which my hand stays mostly vertical. I think punches like this (like wing chun, without turning over the hand) work best for close straight punches. Keeping your hand vertical allows you to get power from your

Yes it's the bible of power punching if you want to learn how to hit hard.

  • @BareFisted heck yes, i loved that book, it explains so well how to punch PROPERLY. especially that power line punching tip, ever since i learned about that, no more spraned hands in foreever! i used to get messed up sparned hands and wrists all the time because i was taught to aim with my first two knuckles, then i read the dempseys book and started punching with my powerline, never had a hurt hand since! and my punches are much more solid and powerful to.

  • @Holdencruze100

You are correct, the straight left is a very powerful punch, too bad most fighters don't use it.

  • @BareFisted the left is not a throw away punch. i have knocked out good fighters in the ring with a straight left, if you do some weights and workout your body evenly the left is as hard as the right but if you are right handed it takes longer to train the left to do as much action as the right so you still adopt the orthodox stance. when you throw a left properly your chin is completely protected by your shoulder and can slip his right too easy. Looks like jab he is doing but is power punch..

  • @thecrazyoftheinsane

Yes some of the techniques come from Jack's Style of fighting. I view his book as the Bible of Power Punching and anybody who wants to Punch Powerfully should read it and most importantly do it.

  • this is from the jack dempseys guide to championship fighting book.
