WW2 footage. German Wartime Newsreel.
The Dieppe Raid, also known as The Battle of Dieppe or Operation Jubilee, during the Second World War, was an Allied attack on the German-occupied port of Dieppe, Seine-Inférieure on the Northern coast of France on 19 August 1942. Over 6,000 infantrymen, predominantly Canadian, were supported by large British naval and Allied air force contingents. The objective was to seize and hold a major port for a short period, both to prove it was possible and to gather intelligence from prisoners and captured materials while assessing the German responses.

No major objectives of the raid were accomplished. 3,623 of the 6,086 men who made it ashore were either killed, wounded, or captured. The Allied air forces failed to lure the Luftwaffe into open battle, and lost 119 planes, while the Royal Navy suffered 555 casualties.

  • @mrprodigy83 You make out Germany fought alone! The British were never able to put their Armies on 1 Front, They had an Empire & 1/4 of the entire Planet to protect. The Brits could only send hand-full of divisions to certain fronts logistical nightmare. Germany & its Allies were able to attack front by front with everything they had. The RAF outnumbered crushed the Luftwaffe 2-1, Battle of Britain 1940.

Royal Navy best in the world. The main problem was the Army & logistics.

  • @martynrobin121 The navy was the best, I agree, but Germanys strength was exceeding the British by far regarding army and airforce. Or do you think Britain at that time would have been able to fight a war like Germany did? Against the huge bolshevik empire in the east and the Americans in west? I tell you without the island it would have been conquered like france, there is no doubt about that except from idiotic patriots who often forget to think before they talk.

  • @mrprodigy83 What the hell are you talking about? Britain was the military superpower at that time. Operation Sea-Lion was impossible due to the fact the British had the worlds biggest & best Navy, Look at the state of Germany and its Allies navy? The Channel Islands were not occupied by British Forces or any other, Yet the luftwaffe bombed and the Axis Facist troops occupied. What could the Civilians do? Civilians who fought back were sent to Camps in mainland Europe.

  • @martynrobin121 i dont think there were any Waffen-SS units in the channel islands, only Wehrmacht Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine and there was limited gestapo because there were mostly units of the Ordnungspolizei as a police force

  • @martynrobin121 No forces, but British population, and they were calm as well as the German forces. No big deal. Yes, Operation Sealion was impossible at that time. Britain and its island..thats the only thing that is responsible Britain was not conquered. Not military strenght.

  • @mrprodigy83 You are very funny, There was NO British Forces on the Channel Islands. When the Axis Forces arrived, There was no fighting. And the Occupation was mostly peace-full, The Axis were under strict orders be good or deal with the Hitler or the SS. It was impossible for the Axis to even attempt any invasion of Britain, The Axis had NOTHING to invade with, And every Britons was prepared to do their duty for Freedom & Democracy, From Man,Women,Child.

    RULE BRITANNIA!

  • @mrprodigy83 Is this really democracies fault?

Nope, When things are good people just get stupid and stop caring about the issues. Some people are stupid regardless of the political system.

  • @rangergxi Democracy could work out,if the politicians really were up for the task.I mean, here inside Germanies parties, some people are NOT allowed to talk the truth! Some topics are to be kept quiet, like immigration problems,eg high crime rates from muslim minorities for instance.Democracies are lead by ignorant idiots, no troubelshooters. If I wasnt so much disappointed by democracy,I might would not think about fascism in a positive way. Things do not improve - its the oppposite!

  • @rangergxi Well, I see it this way: in todays' times, it is as follows: wrong time - wrong place, and you can end up dead! This situation has increased since the borders have been opened, lets say in Germany like 10-15 years ago.In fascism, people were more decent to each other, and the population was heterogenic.Today, politicians force us to like people who do not even contribute to society. They say:"look, isnt it great to lose your own identity? Feel guilty if you are against it!"

  • @mrprodigy83 That is very much true, democracy is being ruined by stupid people. Stupid people elect stupid and corrupt people which causes obvious problems.
