Hockey is the best sport ever. What's funny is people say it's barbaric, yet this is the only sport where they don't act like bitches and shake hands after the game. Hockey > every other sport.

I love how the organist keeps playing...classic!

@kda5 I'm one of the bigger Dave Brown fan there ever was/is...but Brownie came out with nothing to grab onto, no sweater, no pads - nothing. As cool as it was to see Nilan retreating, it would of been different had "Boom-Boom" Brownie been dressed.
Nilan was actually doing the smart thing by drifting into the pile, then squaring things up as best he could. Admittedly he did well, fighting a guy without a sweater on...Les Habs still lost, but he did ok.

@Julius121081 NO penalties were called. All this happened BEFORE the game, at the time, there were no rules in place to address this. However, for his part, Ed Hospodar was suspended for the remainder of the play-offs, but not penalized during/for this game (not sure, but he may have been scratched anyway).
Refs/Linesmen at the time were never on the ice during pre-game skates/warm-ups. They weren't even dressed when it started.

I miss ol' Gene Hart. He was the Voice of the Flyers for me for as long as I can remember.

The bullies did not ruin it... the simply saved it... before them it was another baseball type sport... they came in not only brought 4million+ fans but changed it to what most people want..and without them and all the money they generated for the NHL who knows if we would still have a relevant hockey leauge if we have one at all

Nilan really wanted no part of Dave Brown.

Ed Hospidar was suspended for the rest of the playoffs, which as far as I know was the only suspension and/or pentalty administered. Chico Resch recalled later that he couldn't explain why they had to stop Lemieux from doing his pregame ritual of shooting the puck into the other team's net, but they had to do it. It must have worked, because Montreal did not win a single game at The Forum in the 1987 Wales Conference Finals, which is when this brawl took place.
Were there any penalties called because of this?

@Julius121081 Not as I recall. I am not sure if they knew how to handle it because it happened before the game had officially begun and before the refs were even in the building yet.

@mvmg42 Actually, if I remember correctly, the refs had not even arrived yet when this started.
