In this video, you'll see me doing three things: #1 - Climbing trees, #2 - Climbing an inverted chain-link fence with my bare fingers, and #3 - Having a little "swinging" fun at one of my all-time favorite locations in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Question: Why do I consider climbing trees as a type of Ninja Warrior training? I've had a few people tell me "Jake, climbing trees is only for kids. Grow up!" Hold on now! In my opinion, climbing trees is one of the BEST types of athletic training you can do. We need to all do it more often. The climbing tones and strengthens both your upper and lower body, plus works on your balance and agility, the rough bark of the tree hardens the fingers and hands, allowing calluses to form, and the sheer height and possibility of falling to either serious injury or (possibly) death teaches you how to FOCUS on the obstacles before you.

That's my take on it, anyway.

In truth, though, I love climbing trees. Always have, always will. I remember climbing a tree at the age of five, falling out of it, breaking my arm, and climbing it again with a cast on the very next day. My mother grounded me for climbing with a broken arm, but I was back up in that dang tree the day afterwards anyway. Nothing can keep me out of 'em!

Not only do I love the physical exercise, the sweat, and the adrenaline of hanging from a tree limb 50 feet above the ground, but I also love the peace and serenity that can be found in the top branches of a mighty tree. I think it's because I love raising myself to higher perspectives. At ground level, you can usually only see for a couple hundred yards in each direction (sometimes not even that far). But from the height of a tall tree, you can see for miles and miles. The world takes on a different view. You can see... clearer. There's peace up there.

I simply love it. (NixSeraph's note to fans: Climb more trees!)

Anyways, enough of that nonsensical rambling. I hope you enjoy my latest YouTube video, dear fans and Ninja students. And remember, keep up the training, always.
