Direct democracy, comprises a form of democracy and theory of civics wherein sovereignty is lodged in the assembly of all citizens who choose to participate. Depending on the particular system, this assembly might pass executive motions, make laws, elect and dismiss officials and conduct trials.
Direct democracy stands in contrast to representative democracy, where sovereignty is exercised by a subset of the people, usually on the basis of election. Many countries that are representative democracies allow for three forms of political action that provide limited direct democracy: initiative, referendum and recall. Referendums can include the ability to hold a binding referendum on whether a given law should be scrapped. This effectively grants the populace a veto on government legislation.

@NeCacaluXuxultic Ok, this is where I must say that we end this debate. Because with each post you get more pro-Native American, no matter what I say to you. You want to be seen as a Native American and that is it. I doubt highly that most people in El Salvador are 90% Amerindian. I'm actually going to look for a study done on the internet. You say your father is Castizo, but yet you say your parents are 12% European? Did they get any Dna tests done? If not, then you don't know.

@IslenoGutierrez "The average Mestizo is between 60-65% European." except the PROBLEM with that logic is that this does NOT Apply to Guatemalans who are over 90% Indigenous and Salvadorans (like my parents) who are less than 12% European on average. My father is castizo and embraces mostly indigenous culture...and is aware that he is white but quite frankly he doesn't give a shit and neither do I :/. As for the "60% European" blood thingie..that's from Chicanos -_-.

@NeCacaluXuxultic I am almost certain that if you get a dna test, you will be much more European than Native American. The average Mestizo is between 60-65% European. So do yourself a favor and get one done. It may make you feel differently afterwards though. I had a friend that was Mexican and he thought is was mostly Native American, and he wound up being 68% European. He now has changed his views about his ancestry and now accepts that he is mostly European and embraces it.

@NeCacaluXuxultic Do you really believe that Spanish influence on Salvadorian culture is 10%? That is ridiculous. You seem to be becoming more biased toward Native American culture with every comment you post. If you want to be a Native American, that it is your choice. But genetically you are part of Spain, hence Europe. But again, if you choose to side with your Native American ancestry over your Spanish ancestry, it is your life. It is just deceiving and a slap in the face of your ancestors.

@IslenoGutierrez, oh wow..that makes up about "counts" maybe less than 10% of our culture? hmmmm. Yeah I suppose we do have Spanish culture and as for Architecture... we still use MUD to build houses in some rural areas.

@NeCacaluXuxultic The Spanish Influence in El Salvador is great. Salvadorian culture is a mixed culture of Native American and Spanish influences. From a source in Wikipedia on Salvadorian culture: "The European influences are emphasized in the architecture of the colonial churches, museums and theaters throughout most of El Salvador." Spaniards brought the Catholic religion, Spaniards brought futbol (Soccer), the Spanish language, some foods like empanadas and others, architecture, Guitars etc.
