You missed the point on abortion. Although he is against it he feels the Federal Government has no place in the decision. So he would leave it to the states to have it as it should based on their own voters. There is no federal law on the death penalty thus... there should be none on abortion... It's a perfectly reasonable stance to allow personal liberty to be voted for state by state.
