I suppose you know that Turkey is going to get many, many F35... A good air defense system is required for the protection against possible threats.

@shaikhdishgan1 some latest Russian jet fighters operate on vacum tubes not microchips, because they are immune to nuclear-induced EM pulse.

Turkey is the third most (and senior)contributor of the project, after USA, and UK.. as they are so eager to get this project done, they will get MANY, MANY and MANY of those. f-35 succession of f-16s is even discussed. we will see in the future.

Greece is NATO member, yet they use a lot of Russian equipment. Very interesting.

@DaGrkWebMaster Old tube electronics are EMP resistant maybe the Greeks are preparing for nuke war? This could be a fall back weapon.
If this system is still analog and updated to modern standards it would be superior to EMP sensitive digital electronics.

@DaGrkWebMaster : No, I suppose Greece is relying on more than one system but the thing is that ALL systems must be upgraded so that they will face a coming threat... I'm sure that Greece has many strategic plans but those plans have to include long range ASM and F35 planes.
I suggest that Greeks should look into MASER technology and should upgrade missiles to use hydrogen to achieve longer ranges and higher speeds. The old launching vehicles can be used for upgraded missiles.
Cheers!

I agree but you pre supposing Greece is relying on one system or one strategic plan they are not.

I'm afraid you operate from assumptions my friend even thought this weapons platform was conceived many years ago it has undergone many upgrade programs to meet the latest air threats.
