Trouble & Dearg Doom: Thin Lizzy night: The Point: Dublin

A Lizzy tribute concert which was held in The Point Depot, Dublin on the 20th August 2005 to mark the unveiling of a statue Phil Lynott in Dublin city.

Johnny Fean (The Johnny Fean Band, Fean & Travers, Horslips, The Last Bandits, The Host, The Zen Alligators, Barry McCabe etc.) played with Neil Murray, Bob Knight, Danielle Pfiffner, Charmaine Barrett and Jason Swindle on the night.

Ex Thin Lizzy Eric Bell, Brian Downey, Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham, Gary Moore and Darren Wharton appeared on stage too.

Also on stage that night was Jon Noyce, Brush Shiels (Skid Row and Phil pal), Wheatus, Skye and Nutonic with Alaska Lyle.

I used to see Tin Lizzy play at the Afton club in Dundalk when I was a kid. Between Phil and Skid row i would feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up. My ears are still ringing 40 years later! Sweet memories.

I can't help but think that Phil would have loved this. It is difficult to explain to non-Irish musicians but this is what it is about. Johnny is a superb musician and paying tribute to another. It is sort of what we do to varying degrees of ability and success. A great tune played by a great guitarist. One day we'll all have a beer together.
