An update on the mixing for the next CD. The song is "Dear Friend" which I started writing in 2003. The mix is being done using the Reaper DAW from Cockos. Instruments used in the song include an ENSONIQ MR-61 and a KORG Triton Studio.

  • I vote for first option on Ensoniq only. ;) Was more subtle. :)

  • @leszczufiacek I may end up using that version. I had a hard drive die and I am not sure if my backups are current enough to include all of the revisions :/

  • The use of the short modified pad is better than what I usually do which is a reverse cymbal crescendo effect. Eight years is not really a long time. I've been mulling over a particular song (3 versions) since 1989. Then again I'm not releasing albums. Sounds really good.

  • @willrobinsonensoniq Thanks. I did a few sliding filter effects and pan sweeps to liven it up a bit, but sometimes a reversed effect is better... it just depends on the song. BTW I really like your "Home in the 80's" video, it has a great feel. Something in it reminds me of Dave Grusin's St. Elsewhere Theme from the album Night-Lines.

  • @jamesbooty Dave Grusin's St. Elsewhere Theme, I remember that song. I was overseas for the better part of those years so it may have sat a few decades and germinated into Home in the 80's.Thanks for the accolades.
