Face To Face host Rick Wakeman in conversation with musician and songwriter Steve Harley, who has enjoyed international recognition since the release of his first records in 1973, with his band Cockney Rebel.

Steve Harley reveals the story behind the enormous hit record Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me), recognized as one of the most played songs in British broadcasting history.

This is a fascinating glimpse into to the life and mind of a performing artist who has been hailed by his old friend Rod Stewart as one of the finest lyricists the UK has ever produced. Steve Harley, the son of a jazz singer, was stricken with polio at a very young age and spent the better part of his adolescence in and out of hospitals. Yet following decades of life on the road, this cockney rebel shows no sign of slowing down, as he continues to record, release and find time to support the Rolling Stones in recent years, taking in Poland and Russia. It makes him smile!
