the glenbrook railways track extension is making forward progress with the tracks been laid into waiuku wont be long before we see trains running into town

  • i heard that they are looking at an easter weekend run on the new line?????? is it true???? would be great if it was!!! anyone heard anything????

  • Looking good. I haven't been up to have a look myself, but I helped pre-bend some of the rail before it was laid... and will be on some of the locos going down there. should be fun!

  • cool. bit of a good grade climbing up from the bottom of the curve will be good to watch the locos steaming up from there from the bridge good photo & video spot.

  • As of 1800 hrs Sunday 28 March this piece of track in no longer the ''Waiuku extension''. It is now a fully operational part of the GVR, covered by all the rules and regulations of the railway. A very historic day for the railway. It has taken about 15 years of work to get to this point.

  • It is hoped unofficial trains for members will run down the line during. Easter. The line should be opened to the public in October

  • As of 21 Feb. ballast has been laid from under the bridge to around about the start of the big curve.
