you gotta think.... zepp was called the new yardbirds before they changed it to zeppelin and page was the only person left in the yardbirds at the time and wrote the songs so he does have rights i supose in his own mind to change shit...

All art is appropriated. No human being creates from a vaccuum or in a vaccuum. If Page didn't admit this, he was wrong. If the people criticizing him don't realize this, they are wrong.

Still, in the end, he and Zep, took things very few people knew about and blew them up x1000 to create icon masterpieces that almost everyone knows

White Summer and Black Mountain Side are just two more examples of Jimmy Page "appropriating" songs and wrongly taking credit for them. Both songs ripped off the traditional folk song Black Waterside, recorded previously by Bert Jansch, who at least gave credit to it being traditional...whereas Jimmy Page credits himself. Oh Mr. Page, you've been a naughty boy!

Not quite right. Black Mountain Side is taken from another traditional tune- Black Waterside. Bert Jansch's did an arrangement of the song and Page basically took his guitar part without the vocals. White Summer is based on the traditional song "She Moves Through The Fair". Both tunes are played on guitar by Page in the same DADGAD tuning- which is why there is a similar vibe.
