You can find the tabs I typed out for this song at http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/s/sevendust/better_place_tab.htm

Here is the first of my "Tribute Cover to Cold Day Memory" videos. Also consider this the biggest thank you I can give to everyone who's stuck with me since the beginning, and those just tuning in. To everyone who's gotten anything from my cover videos, you are the reason I continue on and push my limits as a musician. Better Place was by far the most requested song, so I decided to not waste any time and put everything I've got into it. My next cover video will be Splinter, coming Tuesday October 5th!!!

The guitar is a Dean Hardtail Select. I switched out the stock bridge pickup for a Dimarzio Super Distortion. I now play through a Randall RM100 head going into a Mesa Boogie 2x12 cabinet. The Randall's modules are the Blackface for my clean channel, the Ultra for my main distortion channel, and the Ultra XL for my solo channel. The amp is mic'd with a Shure SM57 dynamic microphone. The bass is a cheap Yamaha running through a Line6 PODxt Live. The drums were programed on my computer via Drumsite. The background samples were created in Fruity Loops. Obviously I don't have the voice of Lajon, so I try to make it my own. Audio recording and editing done in Adobe Audition. Video editing done in Sony Vegas Pro.

  • Dude i think its so awesome what you do...i'm going to college at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Phoenix, AZ and i'm looking for a guitar to record with and i was wondering if the Dean Hardtails are good for metal? i've read some pretty good reviews on them but i wanted to ask someone who actually uses one. thanks again!!

  • @TomCastillo20 Yeah I've got two Hardtails and they've got a great feeling to them. The purple one has the stock pickups and the orange one I replaced the bridge with a DiMarzio Super Distortion. Both sound great, but the DiMarzio definitely gives it an edge. I actually think my black EVO with stock pickups sounds better than my purple one, but the orange guitar is the best due to the DiMarzio. So having said all that, Hardtails are top notch guitars, but I still recommend a new bridge pickup.
