@SuperDreamliner787 the magnetic north is always moving an it is moving rapidly since 2010 the heading for the rwy is now 96 an 96 to the closest 10 is 100 so its runway 10 right now

@youtrein Not really! They do round off, but that's not really a reason to suddenly change a Rwy number. it's because of magnetic drift. The earths magnetic south pole is the geographic north pole, and it that exact point changes at slow rate. Almost every runway in the world has been re named, and has to be re named every now and then.... For instance, at Schiphol... The north facing runway are nowadays 36(L, C and R) But about 20 years ago they were 35's....

@youtrein Yes,I know the princip. When I started playing FSX wondered why runways haven´t the first numbers, like RWY 1, RWY 2 and so on. But after some time I noticed that magnetic princip, it´s interresting!

@SuperDreamliner787 Hey guy. Have you ever been to St Maarten? I guess no if you say that. The runway is 10/28 since october 2008. It's not rwy 09 anymore for 2 years. I'm absolutely sure of what i say, i go there every year and it's clearly writing 10 on the runway ;) I'll be there in february 2011, i'll take a pic for you :)

@SuperDreamliner787 Lol ;) a compass tells direction through magnetic forces and depending on the direction it shows, they round it off. I think the exact direction is 96(09.6), so they round it off to 100 (10) so it's 10 because of some magnetic change of the earth. :)
