@Honour42GB I agree with you. and one day, the stuarts may, and will hopefully return to the throne. but for now, i think that it is best for Scotland to focus on being politicaly Independent, before they focus on whether we should have a monarch or president.

@jackobitepratt ...No 3.. Maybe a better way to go would be for Scotland to become a separate and independent sovereign nation within Great Britain. This would require a repeal or re-writing of the act of union. Scotland and England cannot and should not ever part, the past is the past and history spurs on great patriotic fervour but surely the future should be side by side,on equal terms, making an even stronger and greater Britain..(this will cause some comments...help!)

@jackobitepratt ..No 2 Scotland has much to offer and also much to lose. Cutting the ties with the United Kingdom may seem to correct past wrongs, but that blood has been shed and the tears have long since dried. It is time to look to the future. Can Scotland stand alone? I doubt it. Does Scotland want to be like Greece under the heel of Brussels or to become a porn in America's 'New world Order'. If the Bildeberg group gets it's greasy paws on Scotland, then God help you...

@jackobitepratt ..No.1...I fiercely believe that every man has the right to self determination within the rule of law and that governments (as has been said before) should be 'of the people, by the people, for the people'. If Scotland gains independence I see a great advantage to a return of the throne. It raises Scotland from being just another country with a president, who nobody remembers, to being a sovereign state, it brings continuity and tradition.Worth more than it costs.

@Honour42GB our quite right.questions must be asked to ensure we know what we are getting into. But, if Scotland does not take her independence this time, will she get the chance again? Your right. the heart says 'yes'. the imaginations say 'yes'. and the head says, 'be careful, but yes'.
I doubt that the euro will be succesful in Scotland, but it is important to look at such matters closley. As for President Salmon or the Stewerts, i am not sure. What do you think?

@jackobitepratt ...the heart says 'yes', the imagination says 'yes' ; to see the lion rampant rise again; to see the saltire furling in the breeze above loyal Scotsmen truly stirs the blood......but the head say 'be careful'; will it be President Salmon or will the Stewart descendants return to the throne?; will it be the euro or the Scots pound?...+ a thousand other questions.. not a decision to be made over a few drams..... Independence 'Yes'....maybe.....

.....after the battle defeated highlanders, some cleaved and bloody struggling, weary, exhausted and so sad, back to their bothies, only to be pursued by British redcoats throughout the hills and glens. Banned from wearing the plaid, banned from bearing arms and forced to submit allegiance to King George. Then came the highland clearances, that vicious time of evictions & deportations. But now over 250yrs later freedom is within their grasp, if they want it. Scotland can rise again.

@imagineers0 they wernt ,just the jacobites, highland scots following a catholic prince, who as well as the scots crown, wanted the english crown to,he invaded england to march on london, the lowland scots themselves didnt want a catholic monarch, and fought against the jacobites to.,
