The eighth song of the album "The Lay of Thrym" by the Faroese folk metal band "Týr".

Tyr's offcial website: http://www.myspace.com/tyr1

Lyrics:
Ellindur Bóndi á Jaðri
Flestøll munnu hann muna
Hann var so væl til barna komin
Tríati átti hann synir

Her er gott at dansa

Ellindur stendur á hallargólvi
Eingin talar orð
Hann skeyt fyri sín riddaraskjøldur
Niðast vidð kongsinns bordð

Her er gott at dansa
Stovan hon er nýggj
Stokkar eru av stáli gjørdir
Og tekjan er av blýggj
Her er gott at dansa

Eg havi upp við skatti alið
Tríati synir baldar,
Lívið mítt og góðsið alt
Tað er í tygara valdi

Her er gott at dansa

Fimtan skulu eftir vera
Bóndi, av synum tínum
Annaðslíkt skal aftur fara
Og gleða móður sína

Her er gott at dansa
Stovan hon er nýggj
Stokkar eru av stáli gjørdir
Og tekjan er av blýggj
Her er gott at dansa

English Translation:

Ellindur farmer east on Jaðri
Most people may remember him
He had so many children
He had thirty sons

It's good to dance here

Ellindur stands in the hall
Nobody says a wod
He threw his knight shield
Down by the Kings table

It's good to dance here
The hall is new
The beams are made of steel
And the roof is of lead
It's good to dance here

With tax I have raised
Thirty bold sons
My life and my estates
I leave in your command

It's good to dance here

Fifteen shall remain
Famer, of your sons
The same amount shall return
And make their mother happy

It's good to dance here
The hall is new
The beams are made of steel
And the roof is of lead
It's good to dance here

  • Týr should start making all there song in Faroese!!

    Hail from Iceland!!

  • @FimbulthulOfficial You should check out Heljareyga. It's a side project from Heri Joensen. It sounds like Týr, but all of the songs are in Faroese.

  • @LettuceDontEatMeat Yeah.... no

  • @LettuceDontEatMeat Bullshit man! Get your facts straight.. he says "Her er gott at dansa" which means "It is good to dance here".

I know this 100% bacause I'm Faroese myself.

Stop talking about something you don't know anything about.

    THIS SONG IS FAROESE!!

  • Hail from France !

  • In Iceland we have a similar chorus from our vikivakar (plural of "vikivaki"): "Hér er gott að dansa / hér er stofan ný /hún er öll tjörguð og þakin með blý". I recommend the Icelandic band Þursaflokkurinn in this respect ,which also draws on traditional music, case in point being the song "Sigtryggur vann" which indeed has the aformentioned chorus. All hail Týr and Þursaflokkurinn! :)
