The Union tour, come to Sacramento, was the first concert I ever attended. I was 7. They opened with this song, and MY GOD was it all just so incredible! :-p

@fcernig33 Even though Bill was the first drummer with Yes,I will always regard Alan as the true drummer of the band! To me, Bill is the true drummer of King Crimson! (Over founding Crimson drummer Michael Giles and second drummer Ian Wallace!).

I saw them twice on the same tour. Once in the round and once at a smaller venue. The revolving stage of the round was the way to do it though...I recall lifts in the stage as well and both incarnations of the band poppping up and down/in and out depending on the tune being played. I also recall Jon Anderson saying that they were filming the show as well. This was Oakland, CA. Nice to see clips available!

Trevor Rabin is NO Steve Howe!!!

At the Portland stop during this tour. I realize that not all were completely happy with the tour in the band (too many cooks in the kitchen I suppose), but damn what an incredible group of musicians!!

Bottom Line
Howe is the Jedi Master on guitar
Rabin is a better vocalist by far and his pop hook song writing brought YES music into the mainstream for better or worse

WWO when you see Trevor Rabin & Steve Howe side by side you can really tell just how plan Metal & Potatoes/Heavy Metal a player Rabin is in contrast to Steve Howe's very original and much cleaner classical inspired playing. Steve Howe will forever be in my mind the Guitar Player in Yes while Rabin will be the length they were willing to go to to get a pop hit. If I never hear Owner of a Lonely Heart again that would be good, and I would just as soon not have to listen Trevor Rabin....

@319xzp Bill Bruford predates Alan as drummer
This song is a masterpiece, as is (entirely) The Yes Album. The chords against Chris' bass notes/lines, the building of the long, ascending intro with Steve's celestial guitar riffs and the off-time organ against the 1/4/1 chords in the intro and links...amazing! There's much more in this song that had never, ever been heard before (outside of a cathedral) at the time of its release in terms of composition, let alone virtuoso execution. Yes is to music what landing on the moon was to aviation.
