The behavior principle being applied by the woman and the dog is a negative reinforcement. Instead of correcting the child’s behavior the woman is allowing the misbehavior to continue. Such actions have crucial consequences on the child’s future behavior and needs to be addressed rather than seen as an amusement.

You should have kept it up until he quit. He was already slowing down and his screaming lessening. The time he came in and sat down quietly and asked for your attention would have been the time that he'd learned something about getting along with people.
Congrats on your patience putting up with this manipulation. Some parents would have freaked out.

Heh. I know I've faked a few tantrums in order to get what I want. If one of my siblings got something I wanted I would cry until I got one too. Kids know if they're annoying enough they can get you to do things they want you to do or give them whatever to get them to stop.
