Stefani Germanotta, now known as Lady Gaga, performing at Ultraviolet Live, NYU's annual talent show. She ended up coming in 3rd place. 2nd place was Funky Butter. 1st place was Tom Costello & Stephan Magloire.

She's AMAZING.

So she was a regular talented singer/songwriter (I'll give her that she's very talented) who found that there's no market for a regular piano playing girl so she created this oddball persona in order to sell records and it really worked apparently. All this does though is prove that she's really just a character. Not to take anything away from her because it was really smart of her to do that but she's not real is all I'm saying
