This is an implementation in MAX/MSP of a gesture capturing of violin performances. Bowing gestures are captured and used to produced synthetic violin sounds, (i.e. the sound is NOT coming from the violin but generated using the captured bowing controls (force, velocity, position, etc...). The first but uses a bridge pickup to obtain the performed pitch including vibrato. The second part of the video shows the same application but without using a violin and therefore there is no pitch information: only open strings can be heard. Pitch could be controled with a microphone or another device.
Oh my god! Amazing!
