Gameplay from Cosmic Avenger playing on a Colecovision retro games console. Retro gaming.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's simply a quick demonstration of the game so that anyone not familiar with these old games can see what it looks like.

Any opinions or comments I make regarding these games should largely be taken with a pinch of salt.
They are usually based on my first impressions after a very brief play.

  • I loved this game. I remember going to a resort as a kid and they had a CV in the lodge lobby and I spent more time playing Cosmic Avenger than playing on our vacation :)

Its too bad colecovisions are so prone to technical problems today. They don't hold up as well, hardware wise, than other classic consoles :(

  • I don't know about the actual electronics, but the sticks are definitely not standing the test of time. I've been told that megadrive pads will work with this, so I should give it a try some time. Many of these games may turn out to be much more rewarding with a responsive constroller.

  • So thats the name of this game! This is the game that turned me into a gamer. I was 5 or 6, my dad was throwing a party and I had to stay in his room and so I was playing this over and over. When he came to check on me I had gotten through that part you were just about to go in, the cave, and he was shocked because he'd never made it that far. I was overly proud to have beaten my dad. I'm still a gamer today. I want to play this again but I bet I'm better off sticking with fond memories LOL

  • Memories may prove to be better.

Saying that, my opinion of this was coloured by the fact that the controller was so unresponsive. It may be much more fun with a decent pad.

Any joystick that works on Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 should work on ColecoVision.

But since the Atari/C64 joysticks do not have a keypad, you would have to start off with the CV controller, and then when you are done with the keypad, quickly unplug the CV controller, and plug in the Atari/C64 controller.

Or just have both controllers (CV and Atari/C64) plugged into a single port at the same time, using a Y cable.

  • That brings back memories. I played it with a friend when we returned from kindergarten every day Thats 25 yrs. ago!

  • I had an old Colecovision I was given by an employer. It had belonged to his son.

I sold it, foolishly. It was uber-fun.

  • I forgot about this game. loved it

  • Faulty controller ports, faulty power switches and bad power supplies are all common Colecovision problems. There is a homebrew effort to make a colecovision 2 which will eliminate all these problems and be backwards compatible with all current CV games. :)

  • you are hilarious
