"One" is a song by heavy metal band Metallica. The song is released as the fourth single and fourth track of their fourth album And Justice for All. "One" was also the band's first Top 40 hit single, peaking at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song's theme is based on Dalton Trumbo's 1939 novel Johnny Got His Gun. It tells the tale of a soldier whose body is severely damaged after he is hit by German artillery during World War I. His arms, legs, eyes, mouth, nose and ears are gone and he can not see, speak, smell, or hear; but his mind functions perfectly, leaving him a prisoner in his own body. The book was suspended from printing for many years during WWII and the Cold War. Trumbo directed the movie adaptation in 1971, from which the footage for the "One" music video is taken.

"One" es una canción creada por la banda Metallica. "One" es la cuarta canción y segundo sencillo del álbum ...And Justice for All del año 1988, que sigue al primer disco que hacen junto al nuevo bajista Jason Newsted luego de la trágica muerte del anterior Cliff Burton. Según la crítica, una de las obras maestras de este grupo, y también el primer vídeo que realizaron. El vídeo musical dirigido por Bill Papa y Michael Salomon debutó en MTV el 20 de enero de 1989.

La letra de la canción habla sobre un hombre que perdió sus extremidades, vista, oído y voz en la explosión de una mina terrestre en la guerra. Este despierta en una camilla médica y conectado a máquinas que lo mantienen vivo. Al principio de la canción, su protagonista, cree experimentar un sueño; dándose cuenta de que vive la realidad, y, al resultar su cuerpo "una barrera que no le permite moverse" "(Trapped in myself)", expresa su deseo de morir.
