CityU has successfully developed a novel energy saving light adjusting installation, which helps to save energy without affecting our daily life. The principle behind this is to reducing 30% of energy consumption through decreasing the voltage output by the transformer. We can also use the installation to adjust the brightness of light according to our needs. Since the voltage is reduced, the life-span of lamps can also be lengthened indirectly. Besides, as the equipment can be used in the traditional transducers, there is no need to modify the original system to make it possible to use. It helps a lot in environmental protection. The technology has been applied in CityU and a number of outdoor lighting systems on the mainland. We hope to extend the use of this technology to the lighting systems of public libraries and government departments in the coming future.
