Vidal is not an insufferable snob...He is just a big reader and intelligent. I mean yeah he is liberal and gay but that doesn't make him a snob but rather pretty awesome

At 3:28 he mentions Saul Bellow, a Chicagoan. But I know one of his favorite novelists is the Italian Italo Calvino.

There's little that I can agree with Gore Vidal about, but Airplane! is one of the greatest movies of all time.
