First Morning of 2009 - Slightly Less Sleepy Lyre / Harp Playing 2

My new years eve was spent in a very calm way, with three friends in a small cabin far from civilization, parties, traffic and fireworks. With the amazing stars visible far from city lights, we had all the fireworks we needed!

I woke up early and borrowed a Lyre for some sleepy improvisation (previous clip). It is a brand new instrument for me, I have hardly made up my mind on how to hold it.
When people started to wake up, so did I and the playing was a bit more lively as well.

A greeting goes out to my friends I did not get to spend a nice time with. I hope your new year started off well!

It is amazing that you play this music with only 7 strings! Is it tuned pentatonic?

Yes it is tuned pentatonic (DEGAHDE), which makes it wonderfully easy to play. I am new to the lyre and borrowed it from a friend just a few days ago.

I appreciate the freedom of having a small set of notes that go well together much more than I feel constrained by them being few.

Since I really enjoyed this one, I think I will have to get a small lyre now, or maybe even build my own.
