After receiving her degree in English Literature, she worked on two demos and performed a song that she wrote in the gospel play Mama Why that featured platinum selling gospel artist Marvin Sapp.
Finally, after many years and two demos, Genn Hicks has the chance to release her first album entitled My Story, where she wrote and co produced every song. This album talks about everything from Being Alone to not wanting to be just someones Fantasy in a relationship. Her sound has been described as organic and raw with a R&B/Soul influence. Genn is currently working on finishing up her album. In the meantime, she continues to promote herself as an artist by performing at various venues; she recently performed at the House of Blues and Buddy Guys Legend in Chicago, IL.
