@ethanallen1993 His luck finally run out. The bear was older, had some missing teeth, it was nosing around his tent, he went out and it attacked him. His g/f managed to scare it off, but it came back and finished him off. Then it killed her. He had no bear spray. He was an idiot, and the first person to be killed by a bear in this park, his luck simply ran out, this was way overdue. Shame about the g/f though, not her fault.
I really want to know. was this film intentionally shot with this weird dark humor? I hate laughing during this film but it is hilarious. Especially the interviews. If so Werner Herzog is a genius.
All of Herzog's films are comedy found in tragedy. Look into his relationship with Klaus Kinski as reference to the fact that Herzog needs dark to see the light.
After 13 years Tim's bear ettiquet was pretty good when faced with dangerous situations. But all in all I think he was just very lucky for all those years and his luck ran out, too bad Amie had to be there when it happened.
when he was talking about this being the most dangerous place to be on earth I thought he was bullshiting because I thought he had these bears on lockdown. Clearly he was serious.
From a professional medical perspective, Timothy Treadwell shows all the signs of suffering from Bi-polar disorder or he was a manic depressive. I know from one part of the movie his friend, Jewel, said he went to see a doctor and they put him on medication but he quit taking it because he said he could not live without the highs and lows. Classic Bi-polar. The problem is when they do begin to feel better from the med's they stop taking them. That is why they must be closely monitored.
