New Mills Hydro

A big job is going on in New Mills and it is the installation of a power generating system to extract electricity from the river in the valley.

I think it looks so out of place being where it is, hardly any water goes over the falls now. It's the worst thing to happen to the torrs (including when the last mill burnt down).

I agree fully, the whole thing could have been further down river and making the interest in the river to go further along?

It could have been an item on its own instead of trying to merge it with an existing feature and only getting to use a portion of the water?

There is still an opportunity to put many more in the river to get more electricity out?

Fresky74 the weir is automatically controlled and most summers is almost dry anyway - I thought the same until I saw some old picture from before the Hydro was installed.

Now teh landscaping is finished it looks great - especially with teh fish carvings and now I think info boards are going in in the next few weeks.
