A hike from Chenocetah Mountain ᎣᏓᎸ ᏤᏃᏎᏔ (O-da-lv Tse-no-se-ta) to Lake Russell. Habersham County, Georgia. Chenocetah is Cherokee for "see all around". The U.S. Forest Service fire watch tower on top of the mountain gives the mountain its local name "Tower Mountain". The tower was built in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. There are 4 paths to access Lake Russell: The Old Lake Russell Road (which connects the Tower Mountain neighborhood to the lake and is abandoned), the Nancy Town road (a road connecting the nearby Nancy Town Lake to the town of Mount Airy), the Rhododendron Trail (acessable from the top of Mount Chenocetah), and the main park entrance used today. This video is the route to Lake Russell on the Rhododendron Trail. The creek seen in the video must fall about 600 feet to reach Lake Russell so there are many waterfalls along the trail.

Thanks for the time in filming and photographing the trail. My name is Tommy Stapleton and I now live in Waco, Texas. I just turned 54 years old but I still remember hiking the trails to Lake Russell in the early 1970's. I must have hike those trails 100s of times. There was a time when I knew every rock, stump, fire road & stream. Great memories!
