Hopefullly them make l4d3 look like this. Else I probably won't buy it. I dont think I'll buy source games anymore until they do. Go and play a game like Mirrors Edge, and then load up l4d2 and feels like I'm loading an old game for nostalgia. Source engine is really that bad. Even portal 2, they improved it a bit in the demo vids, but still looks like the same tired old renderer.

source is still great. its so good because it can run so well on many people's old PC's. source can do 90% things other engines can do, only thing its missing is the dynamic lighting. Source's shadow look better because of radiosity, most engines don't have real time radiosity and make most areas look bad IMO.

The Cryengine is...well...okay in my opinion. Some things look brilliant, but other stuff looks bland. I may be biased, but the Unreal Engine 3 is probably the best engine out there, again, in my opinion. Seriously though, Valve has been a company not too concerned with graphics, but at the same time, not disregarding them. I for one, do not play any game at full, even though I could.

Why would you run a game trying to capture many players on this engine? the MINORITY can run this, not the majority. Business suicide. It only worked for Crysis due to the publicity they got of being the first.

yes but look into the future. if valve didnt rush out l4d2 and instead gave us the promised content they could have focused on using a newer engine. I believe that in at least a year the cryengine is fully playable for everyone because we have the technical development and cryengine 3 will be released, which will be more tweaked.
