September 14, 2002: Polka band playing on the Common in Arlington, Massachuetts.
Oh, and what's the name of my favorite polka band? Why the Will Fahrt Polka Band in Minnesota. How can they not be with a name like that?
I love these hometown displays and video them any time I run across them.
I was in an accordion band, too. Tried piano. Didn't suit me. In a few years I also took up flute and piccolo (that piccolo was a light as you can get). After I gave up the accordion I took up guitar (folk, jazz, modern, classical). I did study seriously at one point to be a concert classical guitarist.

It might have been nicer if you had picked on something a little lighter. It did give you the equivalent of another language while you were still young enough to learn it by absorbtion instead of translation. I'm sure it helped develop that musical ear. A big advantage to you for the rest of your life. So maybe your decision as a 3YO was better than you give yourself credit for.

Don't know, sure looked like it, though.
Ah, Lawrence Welk. I saw Myron Floren when I was three, said I want to do that and the next week I was taking accordion lessons, and did so for the next eleven years. This proves life decisions should not be made by a 3-year-old. ELEVEN YEARS OF ACCORDION LESSONS! And, I do a mean bellows shake.

Hoo, hoo, Yvette. Felt like I'd see Lawrence Welk come out to intro the next piece. The dancers were cute but that little guy, swaying and stepping to the music is adoreable. Really digging the music. Was that a little Morris hankie in Leiderhosen there at the end?
