Ms. Nadya van Putten
The Aruban born Nadya L. Van Putten will be participating in the upcoming European Parliament elections scheduled for June 4th 2009.
Ms. van Putten is the number 5 candidate on the Groenlinks list in the Netherlands. Ms. van Putten is now calling on the people of the Dutch Kingdom to get their registration forms and register before it's too late.
All persons interested in participating in the elections should add a valid copy of their ID or passport. Citizens in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba have until Wednesday, the 22nd of April to do this.
Ms. van Putten in her press release stated that if people do not register before the deadline they will lose their chance to vote and influence the European parliament.
Ms. van Putten is currently the spokeswoman for the Groenlinks in the city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Born and raised in San Nicolas, Aruba, she is the daughter of the well known student mentor for teh windward Islands the late Mr. George van putten who passed away in August 2007. Nadya just as her father is fierce when it comes to issues as equality and transparency.
Nadya van Putten has now been representing Groenlinks in the Council Commission on Youth, Education and Culture for almost 3 years. She has been an active member in Groenlinks for 7 years, joining the party shortly after moving to the Netherlands and working her way up through the ranks.
Contrary to popular belief, the European Union is very important for the Dutch Caribbean. In the 1950's the Netherlands joined the European community, which meant giving up jurisdiction in certain policy areas.
It is therefore important that the Dutch Caribbean chooses a representative that understands the Dutch Caribbean, has ample experience in Dutch politics, is backed by a political party that respects the Dutch Caribbean and even more importantly, a person that will be part of the most active block in the European Parliament. The European Greens.
