@Ordie155 I know what episode you're talking about. The Reporters did not ride along, but they were always sticking their noses in Malloy and Reed's business anytime they had a call so they can report anything they can find dirty about the LAPD Policemen. Those Young Pencil-Neck Geeks stuck their noses where it didn't belong one too many times as it cost a Suspect's life after Malloy gunned him down with his hand being forced from the Reporter's Interference.

@ :50, it looks like Adam 12 meets Mayberry. Loved this show. You can see most of the episodes on the web. Also grew up and became a reserve deputy for about 20 years. Enjoyed those days, and yes, when I got hired, I remember seeing those Motorola Motrac radios in some of our vans and older cars.

This was the best show, as well as emergency ofcourse. Southern california has changed very much since these days. You NEVER ran from a cop when that red light went on, NEVER!!! reason being the word was when they catched you, you got a good beating, and your dad would just say, "well why did you run stupid? Mommys run the households now here in So Cal, so all we have are a bunch of spoiled kids who smart mouth the P.D. and the cameras ruin law enforcement.
R.I.P. Jack Webb.

Same exact radio we used too.
I remember the very heavy walkie talkies as well.
I was a Cop in the BC (before cams) days!

If you have ever played the "Hey Bob!" game from the old Bob Newhart show of the 70's, then we should have a similar game with Adam12. Have friends over, start watching Adam-12, then, then a drink everytime you hear Reed say on the radio, "One-Adam 12, Roger!"

We used to do that when I was in the Navy, but we did it to the head shaking up and down. A true trademark of anything Jack Webb had a hand in.

Love the transition to the Cops theme, made me laugh. Do you think Pete and Jim would partcipate in Cops if it was available back then?

For some reason I remember either a, or a few episodes where they actually had a reporter ride along. Might be wrong.
