@spacemooseireland While i agree with most of your points - what was ridiculous about Buran?
-
Would the wings really wobble like it's in a cross-breeze like that in space?

@TogieTung The correct name should be Sanger , full name Eugen Sanger , considered to be father of suborbital reusable spacecraft and the theory of skipping or bouncing of the atmosphere to prolong flights. His project The "Silbervogel" was the genesis for the Dynasoar (USA) , Keldysh Bomber (USSR), this project above mentioned and oddly enough some Russian cruise missiles.

@spacemooseireland-I wasn't shooting my mouth off, I do agree with you.

@dalek14mc Thats the same argument I was making about the Mercury Program being nothing like the Vostok Program like the Mig-105 was nothing like the X-20, Almost nothing was Russian copies of the US Space program and almost nothing was copied by the Yanks. By the 1980s anyway the Russians and USA didn't really have anything left to copy from each other except for the rediculous Buran shuttle, you should read what your actually commenting about before you rediculously shoot your mouth off.
@gladio4ever Yes you are missing something alright, the Mig-105 was not copying American technology but their own version of the X-20 Dyna soar, completely made up from scratch. It is a great pity it got cancelled. If you use that standard of copying you can say that the Mercury Space program was a copy of the Vostok Space Program.

The two staged launch system was first proposed by a Nazi aerospace scientist called Seiger or something. By the way the legendary Burt Rutan used that system in his x-prize spaceplane & it works. I don't if the former USSR was successful in their 50/50 project after testing with scale models.
