I watch your videos and it helps reset my brain from all the bad advice I get at the LFS. After my tank with dsb cycled I went to the LFS to get my first fish and a few hermits and nassarius snails and I let them talk me into getting 4 turbo snails even though I didn't have any algae. The snails were in good health for a week or so then started to look rather small and wrinkly in their shells. Then 3 out of four died. Now I'm starting to get algae finally, but not before starving 3 large tur

i added sugar sized substrate already to my tank to make a shallow sand bed of one inches. i didnt know it was mainly used for deep sand beds. is it ok that i used it for shallow?
