Hundreds of police officers recently learned that the best partners to have around in dangerous situations are not always other human officers but work dogs.
More than 220 police officers and work dogs from across the country flocked to Northbrook the week of June 21-27 for the 31st annual North American Police Work Dog Association National Workshop.
Throughout the week, officers and canines attended training workshops to achieve national certification. The workshops covered obedience, article search, area search, tracking and trailing, building search, aggression control, narcotics detection and cadaver detection as well as problem solving.
