You bought wrong bike for daily use. I don't like hybrids because they are not as durable as a real mountain bike and the frame tend to flex. Some mountain bikes weigh lighter by choosing the right bike frame and bike components. Hydraulic brakes weigh a ton so cable disc brake is ideal. Also heavy duty shocks like yours also weighs a ton so a regular fork or light duty shocks(SR Suntour XCM). Some even cheap MTBs weigh 25 lbs or less.

BIKES ARE NOT JUST URBAN TRANSPORTANTION
-
the reason it has such "low gearing" is cuz its made for steep trails, not for "people who are not in shape" as you said. and I dont know about most people but i almost never ride my MTB on a road. road bikes, should be compared to a mountain bike, MOUNTAIN BIKES ARE NOT MADE FOR PAVMENT so why do you keep saying how useless it is on pavment.

Nice bike. Your video makes me miss Austin.

Local photos of Leon. Nothing real about the bike from what the website states.
Even if I bought the idea that bikes are "just urban transport", road bikes aren't comfortable or durable enough for many riders that would be doing that. A mtb can handle roots, potholes, uneven sidewalks and the like without disturbing the rider or bending a wheel. The idea of a robust bike versus a feather weight toothpick on rubber bands is appealing for many etc. Gearing is the last thing on "most" casual riders mind I would bet.

@froochie123 I would go for a hybrid for urban transport; tough enough for pot holes, but much faster than a mountain bike like this.

Decent review, but a couple of pointers: You may want to indicate the shifter type & you may want to let someone with more mountain bike experience try it out!! I don't quite buy into the idea that folks buy these exclusively for the gearing. It's easy enough to buy a road-bike triple that won't tax less conditioned riders.

Shifter type is the Shimano Rapid Fire type. I agree, a road bike with a triple is more suitable for less conditioned riders. But I bought this for the 22x28 gearing with 26" wheels. I may be towing up to 600 lbs (3 people+weight of trailer) with a pedicab trailer with this bike. I don't know of any road bike with gearing that low.
