Blackberry has announced their tablet t compete with the iPad. This baby has a 1Ghz Duel-Core processor and does a few things the iPad cannot. The 1GB of memory on the Playbook should help a a lot while multitasking your favorite apps. The specs on this tablet are highly impressive and pretty much double the iPads, if not more, in almost every category. We won't really know how these two compare until we see the iPad 2 and the Playbook launched.

  • I guess it will come down to cost, the ipad is great and i love it but it is a bit pricey and has no camera, if the bb playbook is say £100 cheaper they will def eat in to Apple's tablet share.

  • I love how he sweats throughout the whole thing. Good presentation though. I'm better informed.

  • there was a time that blackberry and apple were just fruits.

  • @fitobcnfito ..iPad knockoffs which have features galore, all of which suck terribly. Apple just wanted to focus on a select group of critical features and try to make them the best they could be.

  • @fitobcnfito So they could of put a lot more into iPad, but would of taken longer to get out the door. And i don't think Apple have figured out the best way to do a camera with iPad because of the devices form factor/orientation. Had they of put the camera in where the placeholders were then if you rotate the iPad your hands may cover it, not ideal. I think apple are waiting for the right tech to place camera behind the screen before they bother with a camera rather than trying to compete with..

  • @fitobcnfito Your not understanding. More tech = more complexity. Most mobile phones are terrible anyway. Apple put most of their work into their newly optimised ARM Core for iPad leaving less time for adding a camera. Not to mention given all acquisitions for the optimised ARM Core in iPad they recovered cost of that by not over stretching first edition iPad. Apple spent tens/hundreds of millions on company acquisitions for ARM and patents and time to work on optimising it for iPad.

  • @cyberjunky You are in deny, my 12 year old sisters 20 dollar phone, has a camera, placing that component or not, was a matter of will, not complicated what so ever.

  • @fitobcnfito Oh i know it had a placeholder for the camera, everything it needed in the frame was there, but the electronic components was not. So point still stands, if they added a camera they would still need to add more to the design of the circuitry of the iPad. They reduced complexity for first version by not adding a camera and thus reduced risk of failure for revision 1.

  • @cyberjunky Wrong, if you open an Ipad, there is the place to fit the camera already in it. They just did not place it, to get new features for Ipad2, and get you to pay 2 times, for something they could have given yo to start from, and is an evident need.

  • @fitobcnfito WRONG! Firstly thats old news, all companies do this. Apple in this case never included a camera because:

    1) They wanted it in the iPhone 4 first.

    2) iPad was new concept, features galore means more risk of failure, longer time to release and more complexity. iPad will catch up with iPhone in time, releasing a few features at a time allows for them to actually release a product instead of working on it indefinitely. They also have less to fix each release when things go wrong.

  • I have to say when I go on vacation or on a long drive (me not driving) forget a wall charger and don't have a car charger doesn't have to worry because it just goes on forever
