My friend recently got the Panasonic GH1 and wanted me to go shooting with him, with my HPX 170. My friend is a very fidgety sort of guy, so I saw the shoot as a great opportunity to test out my newly built "Poor Man's Steadcam". An added complication that I wanted to test was shooting everything almost fully zoomed in, at 50mm. To say the least I was very satisfied with the performance of the homemade Steadycam in such conditions. |

Big thanks to Johnny Chung Lee for his great design! Check out "The Poor Man's Steadycam" for yourself at http://steadycam.org

  • Does $38 count as poor man's? That's how much I payed for a Cam Caddie SCorpion and it's worked out great getting me smooth shots.
