@JohnEBPiano Interviewers far too often forget that the audience wants to hear what the person being interviewed has to say, and not their own imbecelic babbling. Talk show hosts particularly, should learn to draw their guests out, not badger them with constant interruptions and non-stop (for the most part unsuccessful) attempts to be witty, most of which are intensely annoying to the listener or viewer.

What stupid questions the interviewer asks. He even interrupts Kapell during his thoughts! I thought the Fox news anchors of today interviewed classical pianists badly, but this is just ridiculous. Still, extremely entertaining and stimulating and I can hear clearly the genius of Kapell.

He sounds like Bibi Netanyahu...

Kapell's family history attests to his Russian immigrant background. I believe he was Jewish also.

The interviewer is a total ass. Ignore his idiocy and listen to Kapell.

Very interesting to hear Kapell talk. The interviewer is INCREDIBLY obnoxious.

What kind of accent Kapell is speaking with? Did he pick it up from his teachers, or from his agent, who suggested that without the Russian accent, Kapell would not be taken seriously as a pianist? :-)

Thank you for this great gift today! It´s a treasure indeed!
To my ear, Kapell is speaking like any educated New Yorker of his time (he died in a 1953 plane crash, aged 31) and background (Jewish). His teacher Olga Samaroff was, despite the Russian name, from Galveston, Texas. I never heard that Kapell was advised to sound Russian, but Samaroff whose real name was Lucie Hickenlooper WAS advised by her agent to changer her name or starve. The interviewer here certainly has an accent, but not Kapell.

Perhaps you didn't listen long enough and you're talking about the interviewer and not Kapell himself? Kapell sounds like a New York City artist -- nothing more or less.
