In this video I'll go through these speakers and microphones:

Celestion Vintage 30
Celestion G12K100
Celestion G12T100 "Hot100"
Eminence Texas Heat

Shure SM57
Sennheiser MD421-II
Audix i5

The sounds are actually impulse files of the microphone/speaker combination that I have made from my Matamp cabinets using the same setup for each impulse. This should give you a rough estimate on how the different microphones and speakers sound compared to each other.

It's me on the vocals. :D

You can download the impulse files here:

  • not fair, when the higher watt speakers are clearly much lower in volume. you should balance them.

  • @johnosstreeter They're all the same volume. The darker speakers will seem quieter though.

  • @nakedzen what do you mean the same volume? how did you make sure?

  • @johnosstreeter Because it's the same exact track the whole time, only the eq changes.
