This is my music video tribute on wuxia, an ancient Chinese genre based on martial art adventures. The typical hero is honorable and does not serve a lord but seeks retribution for the oppressed and poor. Often the hero will take on a powerful lord and even an entire army. Heros have qinggong, the ability to run, jump and glide at superhuman speeds.

King Hu directed A Touch of Zen (1971) a critically acclaimed movie which won a prize at Cannes and starred Hsu Feng as the heroine. It influenced recent films including Zhang Yimous House of Flying Daggers and Hero, and Ang Lees Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The heroines include Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, and Maggie Cheung. These critically acclaimed films are celebrated for their beauty in cinematography, costumes, use of color (wuxing) and spectacular sets.

My inspiration for these movies were the beautiful bamboo forests. Somehow I decided along the way to add more.

Music includes the end credits for Hero conducted by Tan Dan and Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo). Somehow, Morricones theme seemed perfect for this tribute.
